A wedding ceremony for Electra Allen-Tonar and Roy Huggins.
Introduction
Friends, on this day we come together to celebrate the love that Electra Allen-Tonar and Roy Huggins have for each other, to share with them this blessed moment of their wedding.
Your wedding is more than just a promise. It is also a covenant. A promise exists between two people. Seeing it as a covenant, however, brings in a sense of something greater, however you want to name or describe it: God, the divine, the mystery inherent in existence, the sense of connectedness among all things. Remember that the vows you make today involve your entire community along with the Spirit of Life, and at the same time know that everything that is a part of this covenant will always be there to support you.
As you enter into this marriage, acknowledge that something new and wonderful is being created that is separate from either of you, yet fully a part of both of you. Your union will bring you strength and support that you would not have alone. Cherish it, feel it, and work to keep it present and real in your lives. It is your blessing upon yourselves that will bring you joy.
Today, by asking all of us to be part of their wedding, Roy and Electra have included us in their promise to each other. They acknowledge that just as their lives are changing through their union, their community changes to accept them, as well. May all of us here, welcome their new status among us and recognize this as their covenant to navigate the labyrinth of life together.
Blessing from the Parents
Officiant: Although we have gone forth from our childhood homes, we will never outgrow the special love and support of our parents.
Do you give the blessing of parents upon Electra and Roy? Will you honor the covenant into which your children enter today, give them your loving support, and respect the threshold of their new home?
The parents respond: We Will
Reading
A portion of your soul has been entwined with mine. A gentle kind of togetherness, while separate we stand. As two trees deeply rooted in separate plots of ground, While their topmost branches come together, Forming a miracle of lace against the heavens.

Question of Intent
Electra, will you take this man to be your husband, to live together according to the best ethical principles? Do you promise to affirm him, respect him, and care for him during times of joy and hardship? Do you commit yourself to share your feelings of happiness and sadness? Will you have faith in yourself and him that you will remain true to each other?
Electra: I will.
Roy, will you take this woman to be your wife, to live together according to the best ethical principles? Do you promise to affirm her, respect her, and care for her during times of joy and hardship? Do you commit yourself to share your feelings of happiness and sadness? Will you have faith in yourself and her that you will remain true to each other?
Roy: I will.
Electra and Roy, will you love each other, be partners in life and business, and live your lives together as parents to the children you plan some day to raise?
Electra and Roy: We will.
Vows
The bride and groom have written their own vows.
Electra:
Roy,
I vow, first and foremost, to be your partner in life. I will ask for what I need from you and I will fearlessly tell you when you are wrong. I will constantly strive for self-improvement, cultivate awareness of myself and build good habits for the sake of being your wife and the mother of our future children as well as for my own sake. I will be responsible with our money and our belongings.
As your partner, I will respect and defend your independence. I will respect your business hours and your time with others. I will trust in the good choices made by you and your friends.
I will continue to love and care for you as I have throughout our relationship and more.
Roy, in comfort and security, in excitement and joy, in exhaustion and hunger, in stress and anxiety, I vow to love you, cherish you, and be your partner in all things.
Roy:
Electra,
I vow, first and foremost, to be your partner in life. I will be responsible with money, both mine and ours. I will be not only a loving father for our children but a supportive and loving co-parent with you. I will always let you know what ishappening with me. I will share with you my worries and my happiness and seek our partnership when I need it. I will also keep you updated on what is in my life. You will be the first to share in my experiences. I will strive for self-improvement for the sake of myself and our family.
I will support your passions as much as I do now, if not more! I will warm the sheets for you during the winter and I will hold you tightly when the world becomes overwhelming.
Electra, in comfort and security, in excitement and joy, in exhaustion and hunger, in stress and anxiety, I vow to love you, cherish you, and be your partner in all things.
Blessing and Exchange of the Rings
Officiant:
May these rings be symbols of your commitment to each other, forever imbued with the love and sense of union you hold this day. They are circles, never ending and as eternal as the sun and moon. In the best times, may they connect you back to this day of union and forward to your future together. In more difficult times, may they remind you of the ever-present cycles of the earth that hold promise of the next spring to come.
Groom:
I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and our unity.
Bride:
I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and our unity.
Blessing
Roy and Electra, what joy you bring to each other. Those who love you see this and share fully in your joy. May you always find that joy and share it with the world in your lives together.
Electra and Roy, the cycles of the world reflect the cycles in our lives. When life becomes cold, hold onto each other for the warmth and cast away the shadows with the spark you make together. May the home you make together be filled with light, love, and warmth throughout the seasons.
Roy and Electra, you have faced hardships in your lives, but no longer must you bear your burdens alone. May you be there to comfort and listen, truly listen, to each other. Be attentive to the other’s needs, and you will find that your love will only continue to grow deeper.
Electra and Roy, the blessings you receive from all of us here and the Spirit of Life reflect the blessings you provide to the world. May you live in harmony together and with those around you. May your love for each other envelop you fully, and may your lives together be filled with joy.
